Macquarie Darling Presbytery 

Members of our committees and groups are elected from across the congregations at the February meeting each year. Anyone who is a member of the Uniting Church is welcome to nominate for a role they feel they can contribute to. 

Standing Committee : 

  • Attend to necessary matters of business between Presbytery meetings including making decisions on matters of property or congregational business that are require immediate action
  • Leads the vision of the Presbytery; enacts the Mission Plan with advice and collaboration from MMC, Congregations, other committees of the Presbytery
  • Supports new initiatives coming from committees, congregations or members of the presbytery
  • Calls on Presbytery or members of congregations to engage in discussion or projects
  • Communicates across the Presbytery

Has an overall governance role to ensure regulations are addressed. 

Ministry & Mission Committee:

Oversees Pastoral Care Needs:   

  • Well-being of congregations.
  • Growth and development of congregations.
  • Well-being and support of Ministers (Reg. 3.1.3(a))
  • Support of lay people, congregational leaders and members of congregations.
  • Facilitate networks between congregations, communities of faith and isolated communities.

Mission:

  • Planning/defining the mission of the Presbytery
  • Life & Witness Consultations with congregations every 3 years.
  • Vital Ministries (support for ordained ministers) as per Regulations.
  • Facilitating Joint Nominating Committees (JNC) for ministerial placements..

Meets governance requirements with regard to training and recording of information 

Property Committee 

Supports congregations:

  • Maintain and develop their properties held in trust for the Uniting Church
  • Liaise with Synod property officers to advise and support congregations in their requests
  • Advise, endorse and submit requests to Synod on behalf of congregations. Provide congregations with guidance on applying for funding, approval and development.
  • Establish clear guidelines and processes to facilitate communication with Synod
  • Strategically plan and support congregations to plan the use, maintenance and development of property.
  • Engages with issues of sustainable property planning.

Meets governance requirements with regard to property and assets.
